Where is Rivendell located? PDF Print E-mail

Rivendell College is located in Boulder, CO, along Broadway (in the neighborhood affectionately known as "The Hill"). Rivendell’s Administrative Offices are located at 985 16th St. (16th and Euclid), one block away from the UMC student center.

Rivendell College, by design, is situated in facilities bordering the University of Colorado, Boulder. We do not have a geographically distinct campus, but have chosen, rather, to weave our presence and programs into the fabric of the larger university community.

Rivendell students have the option of living in former fraternities and sororities owned or leased by Centers for Christian Study, International (a partner organization of Rivendell College). Rivendell classes are held in buildings adjacent to the University of Colorado campus.

Rivendell students are encouraged to take some of their coursework at CU, and to interact with university campus life by participating in Christian campus ministries, using public facilities such as Norlin Library and the University Memorial Center, attending public university lectures and conferences, and enjoying university athletic, music, and theater events open to the public.

In turn, students, faculty and staff of the University of Colorado, Boulder are invited to enroll in Rivendell College classes through one of its Guest Student Programs and to participate in Rivendell College events.

What is the history of Rivendell College? PDF Print E-mail

In 1983 Dayspring Center for Christian Studies opened its doors in the shadow of the University of Colorado. Its purpose was to bring Christian thought and perspectives to the academic square of a major research university. Since its beginning, members of the university community have taken courses in Christian studies which have been recognized and approved for transfer credit by the University of Colorado, Colorado State University, and the University of Northern Colorado.

In 2004 Dayspring officially changed its name to Centers for Christian Study, International (CCSI) and began implementing a plan to launch study centers in university communities across the United States and abroad.  In 2006 CCSI launched Rivendell College to serve as its academic arm, and began to seek authorization and accreditation for the college.

In addition to being a brick and mortar college in Boulder, Colorado, continuing and enlarging the tradition of Dayspring Center for Christian Studies, Rivendell's graduate programs play a key role in  training and equipping CCSI center directors, and its distance learning program is used by CCSI centers to provide educational resources for their constituencies.
