Boulder is located at the foot of the Rocky Mountains 25 miles west of Denver. Boulder’s mountains, temperate climate, and 340 sunny or partly sunny days each year make it an outdoor enthusiast’s dream. Hiking, biking, kayaking, and rock climbing opportunities are not just readily available, they are a way of life for many Boulderites. Boulder’s size means that most things are accessible within a short ride--often a bike ride. The annual Shakespeare Festival, Pearl Street Mall, and the Bolder Boulder, a 10k race that draws 50,000 participants each year, all speak to the rich diversity of this unique place.

Boulder is also home to 100,000 residents that are as diverse in their thinking and perspective as any major metropolitan center. Boulder is not only home to the Buddhist inspired Naropa University, it is also the birthplace of the Promise Keepers, an evangelical men’s movement. Few, if any, cities of is size enjoy more national and international recognition. In the 1960s, Boulder was one of the national test markets for new product and promotions. Today it remains on the cutting edge of societal change. IBM, Ball Aerospace and Technologies, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Lockheed Martin Corp, the National Center for Atmospheric Research, and the University of Colorado are all located within its borders.
