
General Admissions Policies
Rivendell admits academically qualified students whose interests and aspirations align with the mission and core values of the College.
All students who apply for a certificate, diploma or degree program must complete an admissions essay in which they relate their interests and aspirations to the mission and core values of Rivendell College. Some majors may require and additional application.
All students who are enrolled in a certificate, diploma or degree program must sign the following lifestyle covenant:
As members of the Rivendell College community, we will seek to maintain high standards of integrity in all areas of life. We will treat others with dignity and respect, and respond to those who differ with us with civility and consideration. We will seek to live an exemplary life and cultivate habits of moral excellence. We will refrain from explicit immodesty, use of pornography, all sexual relations outside the bounds of marriage, illegal or immoderate consumption of any alcoholic beverage, and any illegal use of a non-prescription or prescription drug.
All students who enroll in classes must sign Rivendell’s Classroom Conduct and Intellectual Honesty statements.
Undergraduate Degree Students
All applicants for an undergraduate degree must have a high school diploma, G.E.D. or the equivalent. All full-time degree students are required to live in Rivendell residential facilities, unless given written exemption. Degree students must read and agree to the Honor Code, and the Rivendell Covenants (lifestyle, residential, classroom, reconciliation).
To apply for admission to Rivendell as an undergraduate degree student, complete and submit the Application Form found on the Applications page (Admissions) of this website.
Application Checklist:
- Complete the application form and submit it along with a $30 nonrefundable application fee.
- Submit an official (sealed) high school transcript, or proof of a GED, or equivalent. Homeschool students should submit a transcript from a homeschooling guild or association.
- Submit official transcript of any college classes that have been taken.
- Submit standardized test results for the SAT or ACT.
- Submit required essay/s.
- Foreign students may be required to take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) to show proficiency in the English language, provide confirmation of financial resources, and a valid passport.
- A personal interview is highly recommended.
Graduate Students
All applicants for a graduate certificate or degree must have a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent. Certificate and degree students must read and agree to the Honor Code, and the Rivendell Covenants (lifestyle, classroom and reconciliation).
To apply for admission to Rivendell as a graduate certificate or degree student, complete and submit the appropriate Application Form found on the Applications page (Admissions) on this website.
Graduate Application Checklist:
- Completed Application Form, including all college transcripts and recommendations.
- Submit required essay/s.
- Official GRE Test Scores are recommended.
- For international students, an application essay, official results of the TOEFL exam, confirmation of financial resources, and official passport (if available).
- A personal interview is highly recommended.
